Dr. William Lee is the PresIdent of ICARES Medicus, Inc., Senior Vice PresIdent at AST VisionCare, Inc., and Vice PresIdent of R&D at AST Products, Inc. He is the sole inventor of the patented LubriMATRIX™ surface treatment technology, used annually in millions of intraocular lens (IOL) injectors, ensuring safe and precise delivery of IOLs for cataract patients.

For his groundbreaking contributions, Dr. Lee received the 2021 Excellence in Biomaterials Science Award from the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation and the 2020 Heroes of Chemistry Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS). He earned three degrees in Chemical Engineering from The University of Tokyo and completed a research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Fluent in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, Dr. Lee is also an accomplished calligrapher, recognized with multiple awards in Japanese calligraphy over the past decade.
